A Most Marvellous Place To Shop…….

Day out with my mum…

Off we went on a little drive to Northampton, in search of A Most Marvellous Place To shop…..wayyyy over an hour it took us to get there. 

What a little treasure we found…loved the place. Two floors of vintage, heaven. My mum has a thing for suitcases but she never purchased, she is not the best at making decisions. Therefore no purchase made today…to be fair she does have about 4 hmm maybe 5 already.

Did anyone watch the series of 'Hair' myself and my mum loved watching it and i was hoping to get Laura who featured in it to do my mums hair, but unfortunately she wasn't there as she is currently on tour.

However I'm sure we will be back when she is in store.

Love love love these vintage vogue patterns, so unique. There are lots of quirky finds hiding in the place.

We had lunch there in Nanas Cafe….which was great however would benefit from cheering the staff up!!!

I purchased a really cute little jug, the glass bottle is for my vodka of course hehe :)

A bag of Lavender, as I'm going to make lavender wheat bags to heat up in the microwave :) Love the smell, yummy.

I was happy with my little purchases.

New Found Loveee…...

I have a new found love for Paul Smith..

I've always known who he is, and visit his stores. I do like his menswear, especially his quirky prints.

He isn't really well known for woman swear mainly menswear, however i do love the androgynous look.

I attended a college trip with my students from Aylesbury College, Paul Smith exhibition at the design museum. 

Loved it, very inspiring. 

Of course Paul Smith is well known for his stripe….But how did he create the stripe??

He developed the striped by winding coloured yarn around cardboard, which slowly build up to create a stripe. Which enables him to see how the colours work together.

Paul Smith really considers the print, to ensure the the print placement sits on the body in the correct place.

This is a very important aspect to consider, when designing prints for garments.

I love this Rose idea, which has been developed from a image found in his archive. I love the way it has been de-constructed, by chopping the image. Again he is bringing the strip into his print ideas.

Visit Scotland…….

I havent blogged for a while….think its about time i started again. Im going to blog about what i have been up to lately.

At the end of last year my parents bought a house in Scotland, where i grew up. 

Such a beautiful place…New Lanark :)

Easter weekend i went up to stay in the lush new house, located in the heart of new Lanark, wonderful area…..its a must to visit.

Of course i took my camera with me….like a Chinese tourist…off i went. Wonderful place for lovely walks especially when the weather was so nice….yes shock, it was sunny in Scotland i know tell me about it.

Went for a lovely walk up the river clyde….beautiful so peaceful and relaxing.

As it was Easter weekend they organised duo races…mainly for children…but of course being a big kid myself i had to join in haha…£2 to choose a duck so i picked a duck…though yes this could be a winner. Well my little duck only went and got stuck and came last. Hehe.

My mum had recommended a lovely little tea room in Lanark…first day we couldn't find it anyway :(

The second day we found it what a little gem..

I ordered a Scottish Cream Tea :) Yummy!

WOW….it was truly amazing, fruit scone, cream with fresh raspberries, shortbread and a lovely pot of tea.

I am really into baking at the minute.....can't get enough if it. This is my first attempt of making a carrot cake loaf. Really wasn't sure about the cream cheese frosting.....but pretty tasty with a pinch or two of cinnamon.
